Cheryl Branz: Music
Disappear
(Cheryl Branz)
I wrote this at the Song School in Lyon's, Colorado in a class on working with metaphors. It just so happened that I had written one the night before as I was playing with some phrases- the opening line of this song. Thanks to Peter Mayer for the tools to finish what I started. Thanks to Justin Roth for a better way to play it.
Like water trapped behind a dam
Is everything I wish I'd said
Where every single thought of you
Threatens to spill over
I tell myself to hold it back
Fear of a flood is just enough
To make me stop short of the truth
Wish that I was bolder
I can't move forward
I can't move back
So I just wait
Hoping for a crack where I can
Slip through quickly and disappear
I can't stay here
It's hard to watch you walk away
You shake your head as if to say
You heard my silence loud and clear
I am filled with sorrow
Regret is all that I have left
When you are gone and I'm still stuck
When all I really wanted was
A way for me to follow
I can't move forward
I can't move back
So I just wait
Hoping for a crack where I can
Slip through quickly and disappear
I can't stay here
I can't move forward
I can't move back
So I just wait
Hoping for a crack where I can
Slip through quickly and disappear
I can't stay here
Like water trapped behind a dam
Is everything I wish I'd said
